All this has to do with steps in families - with different generations and their relationships with one another. So: the child of your first-cousin-once-removed is your first-cousin-twice-removed. By the same token, the child of YOUR first cousin is also your first-cousin once-removed. That is, the child of your mother's or father's aunt or uncle is your mother's or father's first cousin - right? And that same child is your first-cousin-once-removed. The first cousin of your parent is your first-cousin once-removed. It's a matter of generational differences.
